EditorialWith the rapid urbanisation and industrialisation, noise is emerging as one of the major pollutant in the human environment. Noise pollution is having detrimental impacts not only on human beings but also on other components of environment like plants and animals. Various rules and regulations have been formulated to deal with this problem. Recently, as per Hon’ble High Court order, Government of Maharashtra issued resolution for effective implementation of Noise pollution (Control and Regulation) Rules 2000. As per this Resolution, certain parts of the cities are declared as Silence Zones for abating adverse effects of noise in sensitive areas like hospitals, courts, schools etc. Through this newsletter attempt is made to sensitize public in large regarding efforts being taken by Government to mitigate the adverse health hazards of noise pollution particularly in urban ecosystems & enhance the involvement of public in effective enforcement of rules & regulations. Constructive feedbacks, suggestions, if any, from readers are highly appreciated. Back |
